Pashto dept inaugurated at KUST

KOHAT: The department of Pashto was formally inaugurated at Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) on Friday.

The meeting beside others, was attended by academic and literary figures from across the country, including Prof Dr Abdullah Jan Abid of Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Khattak, Islamia College University, Dr Syed Zafarullah Bakhshali, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Dr Noorul Basar Aman, Malakand University, Dr Wazir Shadan, principal, Government DegreeCollege Gumbat, Dr Shakir Orakzai, subject specialist, Government Higher Secondary School Muslimabad, Professor Taleem Badshah, Syed Idrees-ulHassan and academic director Zeeshan.

Speaking on the occasion the KUST Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Zafar Ilyas, termed the establishment of the Pashto department a historic step and a milestone for the promotion of Pashto language and literature. Prof Dr Nasrullah Jan Wazir, former director of Pashto academy, and an eminent writer was the chief guest.

On this occasion, a traditional turban was presented to the vice chancellor as a markCollege Gumbat, Dr Shakir Orakzai, subject specialist, Government Higher Secondary School Muslimabad, Professor Taleem Badshah, Syed Idrees-ulHassan and academic director Zeeshan.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed and as many including a woman were seriously injured in separate road accidents in Darra Adam Khel tehsil, Kohat district, on Friday.

The first accident occurred near the Warsak turn.

Spokesperson of Rescue 1122 Jawad Afridi said after receiving a call about the road mishap, a medical team was sent immediately to the accident site which shifted both the victims to the Drra Adam Khel welfare hospital, Qasim Khel, where Adnan son of Hidayat Masih was pronounced dead.
