MQM worker’s body exhumed

HYDERABAD: The body of Mohammed Hashim, MQM activist of Liaquatabad in Karachi, was exhumed from the Tando Yousuf graveyard in presence of a magistrate on Wednesday.
The body was handed over to Mohammed Adil Chishti, brother-in-law of the deceased, who took the body to Karachi in the afternoon.
MQM MPA from Liaquatabad, Karachi, Azeem Farooqui, relatives of the deceased, MPA from Hyderabad Sabir Qaimkhani, MQM zonal in-charge Naveed Shamsi and members of the zonal committee and activists were also present.
Mohammed Hashim, son of Badaruddin, went missing on May 6 when he was going home from his newspaper office in Karachi where he worked as a photographer, according to MPA Azeem Farooqui.
A constitutional petition was filed on May 7 in the Sindh High Court by his wife Zuhra Hashmi and the court fixed Aug 24 for hearing it.
His body was found on July 12 in Loonikot in Jamshoro.
The police handed it over to Edhi volunteers for burial as an unclaimed body on July 14, according to the Edhi record.
However, his identity was confirmed through his fingerprints by Nadra on Aug 9 and subsequently the Supermarket police station in Liaquatabad in Karachi was informed by the Loonikot police.
On Aug 10, Mohammad Adil Chishti filed an application before a sessions judge of Hyderabad for exhumation of the body.
The court called for a report in this regard and ordered the exhumation of body in presence of a magistrate on Aug 11.
