`Terrorist` arrested; bid to attack security officials foiled

SIALKOT: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a suspected activist of a militant organisation from the Cantt area during a combing operation late on Thursday.
The CTD also recovered explosive material from the suspect and claimed they had foiled his plan to target security agencies` officials here.
CTD officials claimed they conducted a raid at a marriage hall in Cantt and arrested Izzatullah, an activist belonging to the militant Islamic State group. They said Izzat belonged to Afghanistan and was staying in Sialkot illegally. Earlier, the suspect had been living on Raeesani Road in Quetta.
The suspect told CTD investigators that he had planned to attack senior officials of sensitive agencies in Sialkot.
CTD officials shifted the suspect to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
