APROPOS Amjad Mirza`S letter `70 years ago` (Aug 24). He writes that the Quaid never used words `secular` Pakistan and his Aug 11 speech was not secular, but it was about safeguarding the minorities.

I don`t know why people nowadays are allergic to secularism and why they don`t understand its correct meaning.

Secularism is not about throwing out religion, it means everyone has the right to choose his religion and no one is allowed to interfere or insult others` religion.

This is all what the Quaid said in his famous speech: `You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state.
