2017-09-13
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Railways will complete the upgradation of the track and signaling system on the Rawalpindi-Kohat section by October 15.

Divisional Superintendent Abdul Malick said the Pakistan Railways was working on the installation of the new signaling system to replace the old one on the Rawalpindi-Kohat section to revive the train service between the two cities. He said the old signaling system was not able to match the speed of the new trains.

He said the train service between Rawalpindi and Kohat had been suspended eight years ago. The federal government directed the railways to restart the service to facilitate the people.

The official said the signaling system was being upgraded and the 164 kilometre-long track would also be improved.

The train would reach Kohat from R awalpindi in three hours while the public transport takes five to six hours between the two cities. A Reporter
