Notices to principals for including minor students in protest

SIALKOT: The Daska local administration on Tuesday issued showcause notices to owners/ principals of 17 private schools for bringing out minor students to participate in an anti-Myanmar rally.

The rally was taken out by the Private Schools Association on Tuesday against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Police claimed the schools took out the rally illegally without seeking prior permission from the administration.

Students were carrying banners and placards and shouting anti-Myanmar slogans.

`The private school owners brought out minor students on roads and took a great security risk. Parents also protested against this move of the principals,` said senior police officials.`Yes, the administration has issued show-cause notices to the principals of 17 private schools, seeking an explanation from them.

They said stern legal action will be taken against the owners/principals after they respond to the notices. Parents alsoexpressed grave concern and dismay over this move by the schools.

However, the owners/ principals expressed concern over the issuance of notices. They said they had brought out the students to protest against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Police started an investigation.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Abid Khan has transferred Daska City Station House Officer Mirza Ranjha to Police Lines over slackness, and deputed Inspector Gulzar Ranjha as the SHO.
