FAISALABAD: Ghulam Mohammadabad police registered on Sunday night two cases against a number of activists of Pakistan TehreeleiInsaf and PML-N on charges of thrashing each other.
Police have also booked three brothers of PML-N MPA Malik Nawaz with no arrest.
The first case (1273) was registered on the complaint of Sajid Sohail, an independent candidate for city council 146 chairman slot and backed by PTI, and the second (1274) on the application of PML-N activist Wahid Sattar.
Sohail alleged that MPA Nawaz`s brothers Malik Riaz, Malik Razzaqand Malik Nadeem along with more than 30 armed people came to his election office in C-block and forcibly started removing flexes. He said when the activists present on the occasion tried to stop them, the suspects thrashed them and threatened them with dire consequences.
He alleged that the attack had been orchestrated by the MPA. `Malik Riaz is contesting against me from the constituency.
Sattar of PML-N in his complaint said more than 45 people, including 30 unidentified, had attacked the election office of Malik Riaz in C-block and thrashed one Habib. He alleged that the attackers had also snatched Rs50,000, a gold ring and important documents from the office. They had also damagedthe office property and hurled life threats for opening the office.
Talking to Dawn, Sohail alleged that police were favouring the PML-N men and registered a fake case against his supporters and PTI workers.
He said all nominated suspects were at the police station for registration of case against the PML-N men `but we were booked on charges of attacking the election office of Malik Riaz.
He said a delegation of the area people had met the SSP (operations) on Monday and apprised him of the entire situation.
A number of people had also staged a protest demonstration against police on Sunday night for not registering a case against the alleged attackers of the PML-N.
