GUJRAT: A former minister of state and PML-N leader Jafar Iqbal Fatta Bhand says the lone power producing unit owned by a member of the Sharif family does not receive any capacity payment as per its agreement.
In response to Jamaat-iIslami emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman`s remarks made at a public meeting in Gujrat on Friday, wherein the Sharifs were asked to stop receiving capacity payments for its power generation company, Mr Iqbal said the power generation company -Chiniot Power Limited -owned by Salman Shahbaz, the scion of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, never received capacity payments.
Talking to Dawn, he said Mr Salman`s plant only received payments for the electricity units it supplied to the national grid. He said the plant earned no payments when it was not operating unlike many other independent power producers (IPPs). He advised the Jamaat chief to do some research before going public on such issues.
MURDER: A nine-yearold boy was gunned down by a 32-year-old man at latter`s house in Mohallah Shaheedan of Mungowaltown on Saturday.
Reports said Muhammad Anas Dar, a class-III student, had gone for tuition at a house in the street where he was gunned down by house owner Javed Iqbal Butt.
Police reached the spot and shifted the body to Shahbeer Sharif Hospital, Kunjah, where doctors conducted the autopsy and handed over the body to family.
Police have registered a case against the nominated suspect under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code on the report of boy`s father Khawar Amjad Dar and started investigation.
A spokesman for Gujrat police said the matter was under investigation and the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.

A spokesman for the agency said a raiding team arrested one Shamshad Ahmed after a suspicious bank transaction. The suspecthad transactedRs780m from his bank account, raising doubts on his activities during the last six months.
