PESHAWAR: The provincial government formally launched police access system (PAS) to provide a mechanism for prompt redressal of public complaints by ensuring access and respect for all segments of society.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, who inaugurated PAS at the central police office here on Wednesday, said that the government was determined to bring transparency and ensure good governance at all costs. He said that the government focused on legislation to end the interferences of influential people and provide justice to people.
Mr Khattak said that government had tabled 114 draft bills for legislation and 100 more laws would be approved to eradicate corruption, improve performance of different departments, facilitate people and bring a real change in the province. He hoped that with capacity building of police would enable the force to meet challenges without calling the security forces for the purpose.
The chief minister stressed the need for changing system of police stations, hospitals and courts so that the people could get easy justice. He said that performance of police was already improved to greatextentintheprovince.
Mr Khattak said that monitoring system in the hospitais would be launched soon in Peshawar to check performance and punctually of the employees and the process would be expanded gradually to other districts.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani shared details about the new system, saying that with the launching of PAS, citizens would easily access police through a text message from any part of the province and the concerned police officers would be bound to contact the complainant within 24 hours.
