MARDAN: Awami National Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Wednesday hit out at the Jamaat-i-Islami for keeping silent on the dances of men and women at the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf sit-in and rallies.
`The Jamaat considers the presence of women`s pictures on billboards obscenity and violation of Islamic teachings but since it`s part of the ruling coalition led by the PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, not only is its leadership silent on the dances of men and women at PTI sit-in and rallies, it has been supporting them only because of the ministries they hold in the province,` he told a public meeting in Shahbaz Gari area here.
Hoti said PTI chairman Imran Khan had made Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scapegoat for Punjab`s politics and that he was taking decisions about Pakhtuns in Islamabad.
He said it was unfortunate that whenever Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faced manmade or natural crisis, its chief minister, Pervaz Khattak of the PTI, was away from the province.
The ANP leader said his party would set up a women-only university in Mardan after coming to power.
He said Pakhtuns were denied rights and opportunities to get education under a conspiracy.
Hoti said great nationalist leader Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan always urged Pakhtuns to forge unity and get education as he strongly felt only education could help end problems and misery of Pakhtuns.
`Keeping in view the importance of education, our government had established nine universities and scores of schools and colleges in different parts of the province,` he said.
The ANP leader said the PTI leadership had forgotten its election promises and wanted to grab power by playing negative politics. He asked the people of the province to join the ANP saying his was the only political force, which is capable of steering Pakhtun nation out of crises.
ANP district president Himayatullah Mayar, district general secretary Latifur Rahman and other leaders along with elders were also present on the occasion.
Later, PTI activists, including Mohammad Riaz Khan, Rafiq Khan, Aftab Khan and Arif Khan, along with family members and friends announced the joining of the ANP.
