HYDERABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Shaikh on Friday evening started a whirlwind visit to different areas of Sindh to tell people it was time to come out of their houses and join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf`s Hageeqi Azadi March to rid the country and nation of their enemies.
He addressed party workers in Hyderabad on Friday night and spoke at press conferences in Mirpurkhas and Umerkot to mobilse the masses. At the Hyderabad event, held at Doctors Square, Latifabad, he said PTI or his workers had no issue with the army; PTI`s only issue was free, fair and transparent general elections in the country as soon as possible.
He said it was God who saved PTI chief and former prime minister Imran Khan in the recent attempt on his life. Mr Khan got a new lease of life to save the country and getitreal freedom, he said, addingthat it was now incumbent upon masses to come out of their homes to support this cause.
Mr Shaikh said that after being denied bases and snubbed on various other issues, the US was looking for `traitors` and found people like Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari. This coterie of people was handed over powers to keep the nation under slavery. The country has been now pushed 75 years back while Bangladesh is much ahead of Pakistan, according to him.
He stated that what was the bigger injustice was that the FIR of the assassination bid on a former premier was not being registered, and stressed that the case must be registered against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah and Gen Faisal and investigated properly.
He held Shehbaz Sharif and the `imported` PDM government also responsible for what had happened to TV channel anchor Arshad Sharif and former federal ministerAzam Swati.
He said whenever Imran Khan`s FIR was investigated, Asif Zardari`s name would also come to the fore.
`The Zadari mafia has enslaved people of Sindh, where flood-affected people were crying for help and millions of rupees were devoured through corruption. He said that Sindh needed real freedom the most.
He accused PDM component parties of trying to create a wedge between PTI and the army. Those who remained invisible were, in fact, running this country`s af fairs, he claimed.
He also referred to the efforts being made to reunite MQM. Regardless of unity of MQM f actions, the results would remain zero, he said, adding that PTI candidates would hand a humiliating defeat to MQM nominees on the national and Sindh assembly seats.
MIRPURKHAS: Speaking at a press conference at Raja House here on Saturday, Haleem Shaikh alleged that Sindh was devastated by the `Zardari mafia`, which had been holding the entire population hostage.
In each district, a goon acting as contractor was implementing the mafia`s agenda of looting people and government funds, he further alleged.
He said Imran Khan was determined to rid the masses of all such elements and, therefore, he was leading a freedom march after creating awareness in the masses.
He pointed out that hundreds of thousands of people were taking part in Mr Khan`s rallies in each and every city and town of the country.
People were electing PTI candidates wherever elections were held, he said.
Mr Shaikh said Imran Khan was demanding early general elections toshow that the masses wanted their genuine representatives to rule over them. They wanted to root out corruption and rid the country of plunderers once and for all, he added.
He deplored that the PPP government in Sindh had usurped resources of the province and as a result, health, education and all other sectors now stood destroyed. He observed that even relief goods meant for millions of flood victims had been looted and distributed only to rulers` f avourites.
`Today, farmers are suffering huge losses as floods had devastated their houses and lands but government has remained unmoved and indifferent to their plight,` he noted.
UMERKOT: During his visit to Umerkot, Haleem Shaikh addressed a press conference at the residence of PTI MNA Lal Malhi.
He appealed to the people of the entire Sindh to join ImranKhan`s Hageeqi Azadi March to help themselves win freedom from US slavery.
He said the `Zardari league` had been holding Sindh hostage through police and revenue officials.
Mr Shaikh also condemned the Sindh government and police for the ruthless action against doctors and paramedics during their demonstration outside Karachi Press Club on Friday.
He contested Sindh government`s claim that billions of rupees had been spent on the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people, arguing that more than 50 per cent of the province was still under floodwaters and growers were unable to cultivate their lands. The victims were not even being provided proper food and water, he added.
