ISLAMOPHOBIA: Despite violations of human rights in Palestine and occupied Kashmir, the West has preferred to remain silent. The reason it does not support Palestinians and Kashmiris is the fact that the vast majority of these two nations happen to be Muslims. There is no other explanation for the behaviour that the West has chosen to practise.
ShakirLakhani Karachi TEXT SERVICE: The National Savings recently launched a mobile application that provides details of transactions to customers who have made investment in certain schemes. However, customers who have invested in the rest of the schemes do not have this facility. The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) frequently receives complaints related to discrepancy in the disbursed amounts. I wonder why it has decided to facilitate one set of customers while leaving out others. Furthermore, many people do not use mobile applications.
The CDNS needs to start SMS alert service so the chances of complaints regarding embezzlement are minimised.
ArfKhalil Karachi POWER COMPANIES: Proposals to privatise national electric power supply companies have been circulating in the national media. However, we would do well to provincialise them first. In the long run, this will allow the provinces to be able to bear their own share of circular debt responsibilities.
M.L Shaikh Islamabad > OVERPRICING MARTS: Quite a few petrol pumps have started featuring a shopping mart in Jamshoro, particularly from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) to the Thermal Power Station. These marts represent a decent shopping option for thousands of people as well as passengers using the Indus Highway N-55. Regrettably, there is no mechanism to keep a check on the prices these marts charge. Due action is needed.
