SUKKUR: Grand Democratic Alliance leaders Dr Safdar Abbasi, Sardar Abdul Rahim, Roshan Ali Buriro and others have accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of blackmailing the establishment in order to force it to favour that party.

They were speaking at a press conference here late Saturday evening.

They expressed their confidence that the GDA would be able to hand a defeat to PPP in the Feb 8, 2024 general elections in Sindh “if official and unofficial armed entities did not intervene to rescue PPP”.

Dr Abbasi wondered that on the one hand PPP leaders were blackmailing the establishment and, on the other, they were trying hard to make it believe that they would remain subservient to it [establishment] after coming to power.

“But this is not going to happen this time … PPP contestants will get their sureties forfeited if free, fair and transparent elections are held,” said Dr Safdar.
