DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A police officer was injured when two unidentified attackers opened fire on Takwara checkpost in Kulachi tehsil, police said here on Monday.

A police official told Dawn that two unknown motorcyclists fired at ASI Shah Waliullah, who was going to check the ongoing work at Takwara post in Kulachi police station limits, injuring the officer.

After committing the crime, the accused managed to escape from the spot, while the injured policeman was immediately shifted to the Dera District Headquarters Hospital, where his condition is said to be out of danger.

Police have registered a case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer Mohammad Saleem Marwat reached the hospital, where he personally reviewed the medical facilities provided to the injured ASI.

The RPO said police operations against terrorists and criminal elements will continue.
