Rape survivor seeks CM`s help against influential suspects

NAROWAL: A female student, who was allegedly gangraped over a month back, has appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar to help her in getting justice, alleging that the local police are colluding with the influential suspects, who are pressurising her family for reconciliation.
Usman, a resident of BhattianGujran village in Shakargarh tehsil said in his complaint to police that on November 6, 2024, two suspects of the same village lured his niece to a building, where they gangraped her at gunpoint.
He said the suspects also recorded obscene video clips of hisniece and threatened to post the material on social media if he pursued legalaction against them, besides hurling life threats.
Acting on the complaint, Shakargarh Saddar police have registered an FIR against the suspects under section 376/375A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), but did not arrest the suspects, who went in hiding.The gang rape survivor `Z` said in a video statement on social media that the influential suspects are putting pressure on her family for `reconciliation` to avoid legal action.
She said that she is a student and felt helpless against the influential suspects.
She appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to help her in getting justice.
Usman also alleged that influential suspects have been harassing him for a month and resorting to aerial firing to force him to reconcile with them.
Usman Hanif, the spokesperson for Narowal district police, said that the suspects have secured pre-arrest bail from acourt till December 14.
He said the police are trying to get their bail canceled and take them in custody for DNA testto ascertain the charge.
He refuted the allegation of police`s collusion with the suspects.
BOOKED: Zafarwal police have registered an FIR against seven suspects for allegedly killing four members of a family, including the ex-wife of the prime suspect.
On Thursday, hundreds of people attended the funeral prayers held for the the four persons, who were killed on Wednesday in Khushalgarh village of Zafarwal tehsil. They were buried in their ancestral graveyard in the village.The FIR has been registered against Ikram Aslam, Imran, Junaid, Aftab Hameed and three unknown suspects on the request of Abid Kaleem, the husband of the deceased woman Asma Ghani, under sections 302, 324, 452, 436, 109, 148 and1490fthe PPC.
The suspects fled the village along with their families after the incident.Zafarwal police are conducting raids for their arrest.
On Wednesday, Ikram had allegedly shot his ex-wife Alia Bibi, mother-in-law Hajran Bibi, sister-in-law Asma Bibi and 10-year-old Abdullah dead.
Later, Ikram, the main suspect, also died allegedly by suicide.
