Kamalia varsity to finally launch BS classes: VC

TOBA TEK SINGH: After a two-year delay, the University of Kamalia (UoK) will finally commence BS (Honours) classes in different subjects from the next academic session, while applications have also been invited from interested candidates for different faculty and administrative posts at the varsity.
The Punjab Assembly had passed the University of Kamalia Bill on Aug 19, 2022, on the initiative of the PTI MPA from Kamalia Begum Ashfa Fatyana and her husband,MNARiazFatyana.
During the last two years, acting VCs were appointed at the UoK, but now regular Vice Chancellor Dr Yasir Nawab has recently assumed charge.
He said that classes of chemistry, computer science, mathematics, commerce, business administration and some other subjects are being introduced at the varsity within next few months in the building of former government teachers training school on Toba Road.
He said the building had more than 20 classrooms that will be sufficient for accommodating more than 2,500 students. He said that at least 1,000 admissions were expected in the first UoK session in different BS classes.
Nawab said the Punjabgovernment had allotted 45 acre land located on Mull Fatyana Road (the road that connects Kamalia and Sahiwal through newly constructed KamaliaHarappa river Ravi bridge).
He said applications had been invited till January 6, 2025 for the appointment of staff and faculty, including the posts of registrar, controller of examinations, treasurer, two assistant registrars, two assistant treasurers, two assistant controllers of examination, four assistant directors, one assistant librarian, one network administrator, one each assistant professor for subjects of physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science and information technology.
He said one lecturer`s post each for Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies and two lecturers each for physics, chemistry, computer science and information technology, management sciences, mathematics, commerce and English, will also be recruited at the varsity.
