PESHAWAR: The businessmen affected by the bomb blasts at Qissa Khwani bazaar on September 29, last year, were on Monday given compensation cheques of Rs23 million.
A total of 57 traders received monetary grant at a ceremony held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour in the chair, according to a press release issued here. Over 40 people were killed and several others injured in a powerful car bomb in Qissa Khwani bazaar, causing huge losses to shopkeepers.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Bilour and KPCCI president Zahidullah Shinwari said the chamber had launched concerted efforts to help the affected traders get compensation for the losses.
