KARAK: The doctors in the district ended their strike here on Monday after holding successful negotiations with elected representatives and local leaders.
The local doctors had gone on strike and stopped performing duty at the health facilities few days ago after a clash with journalists.
Adviser to Chief Minister on Prisons Malik Qasim Khan Khattak, PML-N provincial general secretary Rehmat Salam Khattak, former provincial minister Malik Zafar Azam, Haji Noor Aslam and other elders held a meeting and showed concerns over closure of hospital in the district.
They said that people were suffering owing to closure of hospitals.
They said that people were forced to visit other districts for treatment of minor diseases owing to strike of doctors in Karak.
The participants of the meeting decided to negotiate with the doctors and paramedics to persuade them to end the strike.
After the meeting, they visited the district headquarters hospital and held negotiations with the doctors` committee headed by Dr Ishfaq and paramedics` representative Khalid Usman.
They told the medics that they should end the strike to minimize sufferings of people.
The elders assured the doctors that no injustice would be done to them. They said that negotiation was the only solution to all issues.
On the assurance of elders, the doctors agreed to end their strike.
The decision about end to strike was also endorsed by a general body meeting of the doctors held at the hospital.
The doctors opened all health units in the district after successful negotiations.
