Slain Gepco official laid to rest

GUJRANWALA: The body of Mazhar Nawab, executive engineer (EXEN) of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco), was handed over on Wednesday to heirs after an autopsy.

He was laid to rest in Mughalpura graveyard in Lahore.

The EXEN was shot dead on GT Road on Tuesday in a drive-by shooting. Two other officials -Abu Bakar and Nadeem -accompanying him in the vehicle were injured.

Model Town Inspector Amir Shaheen Gondal said a case had been registered against four gunmen under terror and other sections of Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Nawab`s brother Ather Nawaz.

The gunmen riding a car had shot him dead on GT Road with automatic weapons.

City Superintendent ofPolice Maqsood Ahmad Cheena said that suspects would be arrested soon.

Gepco employees closed offices in protest at the killing of their senior officer. Union`s regional chairman Iqbal Dar and secretary Waliur Rehman said the strike would continue till the arrest of the killers.

BISE: The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education announced on Wednesday the schedule for intermediate part-I and part-II and Alum Shargia, annual examination of 2016.

According to the schedule last date for submitting admission forms with a single fee is Feb 12.

While last date with double and triple fees Feb 25 and March 3.

The board directed regular students to deposit a Rs195 processing fee with their admission form for part-I and Rs295 for part-II.
