LANDI KOTAL: Unidentified gunmen abducted an Afghan national from the main Peshawar-Torkham highway here on Thursday.

Officials said that a Persian-speaking Afghan national was on his way to Torkham from Peshawar in a taxi cab when he was abducted at gunpoint at Sheikhwal area.

Political tehsildar Daftar Khan said that driver of the taxi had been taken into custody.

He said that the kidnappers abandoned the car at Neekikhel area and escaped.

Meanwhile, security forces in Shalobar area of Bara tehsil handed over control of some checkposts to Khasadar force and also reopened the Shalobar-Nawgazi Baba road to traffic. Officials said that FC and Punjab regiment personnel, posted at the two checkpost, had been sent back to Shah Kas Fort.
