Windswept city braces for warm weather

By Our Staff Reporter 2017-02-14
KARACHI: The city, currently experiencing dusty and windy conditions, is likely to become warmer in the coming days, the Meteorological department stated on Monday.

The maximum wind velocity recorded on Monday was 40km per hour.

“These are north-westerly winds. They are likely to lose their intensity tomorrow and will be followed by a slight rise in temperature,” said Shahid Abbas representing the Met department.

The maximum temperature recorded in the metropolis was 29.6 degrees centigrade, he added. According to the weatherman, humidity — the amount of moisture in the atmosphere — was very low on Monday and reduced to 10pc only.

“These winds are cold and dry. However, by the time they reach Karachi, they lose their cold effect. It’s likely that the weather will become pleasant after getting slightly warm. Humidity levels will also improve.”

While there are no chances of rain for Sindh this week, upper parts of Punjab are likely to experience light to moderate rains by the end of this week.
