Kite string injures man

RAWALPINDI: A man suffered injury after a kite string slit his nose in the limit of R. A. Bazaar on Wednesday, police said.

Sajid Hussain, 45, resident of R.A Bazar was on his way home on his motorcycle when he was struck by kite string and he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122.

Later the injured was allowed to go home after the first aid provided him at the hospital.

On the other hand, the Punjab government has directed the police across the province to launch a cracl(down on kite sellers and flyers and register cases against those violating the ban under the Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying Ordinance 2001.

The directives authorised the police to seal warehouses or godowns where kites or strings were stored.

`If kite flying incident occurred in the limit of any police station, the supervisory officer will be held responsible and who will face legal action,` the directive said.

Following the government directives, the city police officer Rawalpindi has directed all the SPs and SHOs to strictly implement the ban on kite flying and selling. On the other hand, the Kite Flying Association has announced to celebrate `basant` festival on Feb 21 and 22 despite the ban.Staff Reporter
