13 terrorists killed in KP: ISPR

PESHAWAR / NORTH WAZIRISTAN: At least thirteen terrorists were killed in different encounters with security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military`s media wing said on Thursday.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists were killed `in five separate engagements` over a period of two days.
Five terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in Khulachi tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan.
Separately, two encounters took place in North Waziristan in Dosali and Tappi areas, resultingin the death of five assailants, ISPR added.
In another encounter, the military`s media wing said, forces killed two terrorists in Lakki Marwat.
One miscreant was also killed in an operation in Bagh area of Khyber district.
The ISPR claimed that security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the deceased terrorists who were `actively involved` in attacks against security forces and civilians.
The statement added that sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
Earlier this week, security forces claimed to have killed seven terrorists in KP.ISPR said the operations were conducted in Dera Ismail Khan and Noth Waziristan.
In a separate operation, security forces killed three `burqaclad` terrorists in Datta Khel area, the military`s media wing said.
A statement issued by ISPR read that the security forces had conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of militants in the area.
Local sources said that the terrorists, including an Afghan national, were in a car when soldiers signalled them to stop at a checkpoint in Ghonda.
However, they hurled a hand grenade and fired at the troops, who retaliated and killed three terrorists.
