PESHAWAR: The adviser to chief minister on information and public relations, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, on Thursday demanded of the federal government to immediately give rightful dues to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that the province was not asking for charity but its constitutional rights including net hydel profit, developmental funds for merged districts, National Finance Commission (NFC) award allocations and other outstanding payments.
Mr Saif said that the province`s share in funds had increased from 14.72 per cent to 19.46 per cent after merger of tribal districts, said a statement.
He said that federal government should take practical steps to ensure development of the merged districts. He said that federal government should protectmerged districts from further deprivation. Any attempt to hinder development of tribal districts would fail, as keeping those areas underdeveloped was tantamount to promoting insurgency, he added.
Mr Saif said that attempts to marginalise a province that had already suffered due to militancy must be stopped as such actions were against national unity and stability.
He described the federal government`s attitude with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tantamount to rebellion against the federation. He said that it was unacceptable. He warned of resistance at political level besides fighting legal battle if the province was denied its legitimate rights.
He said that any violation of the province`s rights would not be tolerated. He said that there would be no compromise on the province`s rights.
`The province will raise its voice at every platform and will secure its due share at any cost. If federal government continues its unjust policies, the people of KP will not remain silent,` he said.
