Kharian fugitive arrested at Peshawar airport

GUJRAT: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a fugitive from Peshawar airport 14 years after the murder incident in Kharian.

A spokesman for Gujrat police said Badar Munir had shot a man dead upon return from Kharian session courts back in 2011.

A case was lodged against him. However, the suspect went into hiding. He made an attempt to flee the country from Peshawar airport where he was detained by the immigration authorities who handed him over to Gujrat police.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested a hired assassin wanted in a murder case of the city’s busy Prince Chowk a few months ago.

The spokesman said the suspect, Ali Raza, was hired to kill a man. He shot the target dead and injured two others by firing at them.

The suspect was also wanted in at least 16 cases of heinous nature.

Police also claimed to have arrested an injured suspect who was fleeing the scene after a rape bid on a nine-year-old girl in A-Division police precincts.

Police said the suspect, Zahid Imran, attempted to rape the minor girl but he was spotted by people.

Later, police chased him when he was making an escape and arrested him. The suspect had also got injured. Police have registered a case against him.
