Four killed in two incidents

GUJRAT: At least four people were murdered in two incidents in Gujranwala`s Kamoke and Ferozwala police stations during the last 24 hours.

Initial police reports said that some unidentified armed men sprayed two people Saifur Rehman and Tanveer with bullets as a result of which both were shot dead on spot.

The assailants managed to flee the scene and police later reached and shifted the bodies to the hospital where doctors were yet to conduct the autopsy.

A team of Punjab Forensic Science Agency also reached the spot to collect the evidence.

Gujranwala city police officer Ayaz Saleem has directed the SP civil lines to arrest the suspects involved in the incident whereas special raiding teams have been constituted under DSP People`s Colony.

A spokesman for Gujranwala police said that initial investigation revealed that old enmity was the motive behind thedouble murder incident as police had already taken a legal action against both these rival groups after an earlier clash between them. He said police are yet to lodge a case.

Similarly in Kamoke city`s police precincts, Usman along with his accomplices opened firing at Muhammad Riaz and Sartaj of Kassoki village who were on their way to Kamoke city on a motorbike.

As a result of the firing, both the motorcyclists were killed and the assailants fled the scene.

Police shifted the bodies to Kamoke Tehsil Headquarter hospital where doctors later conducted autopsy and handed over the bodies to the heirs.

Police have registered a case against at least 16 suspects including two women and two unidentified suspects under sections 302, 148, 149 and 109 of Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Akhlag, the son of deceased Riaz, and started investigation.

However, no arrest could be made by police in both the incidents.
