Honda dealers accused of fleecing bike buyers

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Traders of auto market have accused the city`s five authorised dealers of Honda motorbikes of charging Rs3,000-5,000 extra over the actual price.
Staging a protest outside the Atlas Honda office on Monday, the traders alleged that the actual price of CD-70 model is Rs63,500, but the Honda dealers were demanding Rs66,500. Similarly, the CG-125 is available at Rs110,500 against its company price of Rs105,000.They said the dealers also demand Rs1,000 for registration of the two-wheeler.
`We have written letters to the company`s regional office in Rahim Yar Khan but the problem still persisted,` the protesting traders told Dawn.
Meanwhile, the Honda dealers denied the allegation. When contacted Atlas Honda Assistant Manager Sales Awais Ali told Dawn the company has a policy to fine dealers demanding extra money.
`If any dealer charges more than the fixed price, he will be fined Rs70,000, he said.
