OKARA: Tributes were paid to renowned poet and playwright Amjad Islam Amjad during a condolence reference at the Government Graduate College where speakers highlighted the multidimensional life of the late author.

The reference, attended by the faculty, students and enthusiasts of literature, was chaired by college Principal Prof Dr Hamood Lakhvi while the chief guest was former principal Razaullah Haider.

Prof Dr Hasan Raza Iqbali, an expert at Iqbaliat, highlighted various aspects of Amjad`s poetry. Prof Ali Sabir Rizvi spoke on different poetic aspects of the works of the late poet.

Prof Hamid discussed the social and ethical effects of Amjad`s literature on our society. Professor Kashif Majeed talked about Amjad`s 50 years long career as a playwright during the golden era of the PTV.

Prof Mian Muhammad Tufail Akhtar Wattoo and Sukhnwar Najmi also spoke.

Ayesha Sabir sung Amjad`s poetry. The poets, including Prof Iftikhar Ahmad, Shafgat Rasool Qamar and Ghulam Mustafa Mughal recited their poetry. Correspondent
