Cath Lab opens at KTH

PESHAWAR: Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Ihtesham Ali on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art. Cath Lab at Khyber Teaching Hospital to provide better services to patients suffering from cardiac ailments.

According to a press release, this advanced facility will cater to the needs ofcardiac patients by offering angiography, angioplasty and other essential heart-related procedures. The Cath Lab is initially equipped with an eight-bed, with plans for future expansion.

Ihtesham Ali was flanked by Dr Sajjadullah Dawar, the acting medical director of KTH, and Dr Zafar Afridi, the hospital director. Prof Amber Ashraf, the chairperson of cardiology department, provided a detailed briefing on Cath Lab`s advanced features and technical capabilities.

The event was attended by leading cardiologists fromLady Reading Hospital, Peshawar Institute of Cardiology and Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Speaking to media, Ihtesham Ali commended Prof Amber Ashraf and her team for their dedication and termed the establishment of Cath Lab a landmark achievement. He reaffirmed the provincial government`s commitment to strengthening healthcare sector and announced that similar labs would be set up in Swat, Dir, Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral to enhance cardiac care across the province.
