LAHORE: A mobile phone video showing torture of three young men by a policeman at a police station on Thursday exposed the tall claims of the authorities about bringing about change in police culture.

The video aired by news channels shows a constable hitting the three men with a leather belt. They were taken into custody by the Naseerabad police from a guest house and booked under section 371 of Pakistan Penal Code.

The youngsters were being interrogated by the investigation wing policemen using old methods.

Citizens while commenting on the video said the authorities had changed the uniform and established model police stations but they had failed to change the method of investigation.

DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said the Naseerabad police in-charge investigation and two other policemen were suspended from service over torture of the youngsters.

He said they also arrested the policemen after registering a case under Section 155/c of PPC. He said the youngsters were sent to the hospital for a medical checkup and some other sections were added to the case.
