T HIS is apropos the letter `Ghulam Rasool Saeedi`. The writer has aptly pointed out the absence of any note or brief write-up about Allama Ghulam Rasool Saeedi (1916 d) on his first death anniversary.
Allama Saeedi was a great theologian of his time who displayed profundity of his scholarship in exegetical commentary of the Holy Quran (Tibyan-ul-Quran and Tibyanul-Furgan) and stupendous interpretation oftwo classical books on Hadiths Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
Besides, he was a staunch proponent of Sufi Islam and eloquently explained through his voluminous books mystic ethos and facets of traditional Islam. This aspect alone merits special mentioning because misguided interpretation of religious injunctions has wreaked havoc on the social fabric of Pakistan.
Moreover, his rulings on host of contemporary issues reflected his analytical prowess, juristic insight and balanced approach.
