Three suspected robbers arrested after shootout with police

RAWALPINDI: Police arrested three suspected members of a gang of robbers after an exchange of gunfire, which left one of the suspects injured on Saturday night, a police spokesman said.

The shootout took place when the police signaled three suspects riding a motorcycle in Ratta Amral.

The motorcycle riders opened fire and during an exchange of fire one of the suspect was injured.

The police arrested the suspects after the incident.

The police spokesman said a stolen motorcycle and weapons were recovered from the possession of the suspects.

The suspects were wanted and involved in dozens of cases of robbery, motorcycle snatching and theft in different areas. Dozens of cases were registered against the suspects in Ratta Amral, Bani, Newtown and Pirwadhai police stations.

The arrested suspects included gang leader Waqas alias Koma, Imran alias Maro, and the injured suspect Sohail.

CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani appreciated the Ratta Amral police team for arresting the suspects involved in street crime. He said that those who attack citizens and police cannot escape the clutches of the law.
