Cop injured in crossfire with suspects

SAHIWAL: An assistant subinspector (ASI) posted at Kasowal police station was allegedly critically injured in a crossfire with three suspects near 16/14-L village in Chichawatni tehsil on Sunday.

According to police, three armed dacoits looted two men, Fasil Ali and Farhan, snatching their motorcycle, two mobile phones and Rs40,000 cash near 120/7-R village.Police emergency call alerted Kasowal SHO Mr Zeeshan, who leading a police party chased the suspects, who opened fire on them.

The police retaliated the fire and during the crossñre one of the suspects and a policeman, ASI Raees, were injured.

Police arrested the injured suspect, identified as Umer Hayat alias Diloo while his two accomplices escapedinthe dark.

Police shifted the injured ASI and the suspect to ChichawatniTHQ Hospital.

Chichawatni Sub Divisional Police Officer Mr Taseer visited the injured ASI in the hospital.

The police registered two separate cases against the injured suspect and his fleeing accomplices.

The first case was registered on the compliant of the SHO under sections 34, 186, 427, 353 and 324, and the second on the compliant of Fasil Ali under section 392 of the PPC.

DPO Rana Tahir said the arrested suspect was wanted by Faisalabad police in 30 cases.
