KEMU conducts JCAT for medical institutions in Punjab

LAHORE: The King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Lahore conducted the 23rd Joint Central Admission Test (JCAT) examination for the induction of postgraduate trainees in all public sector medical institutions of Punjab.

Considering the large number of candidates from south Punjab, the exam was held simultaneously at Lahore and Multan centres on the Punjab government`s directions.

A KEMU spokesperson says that the JCAT was held in 11 halls at the Lahore centre and 7 halls at the Multan centre.

A total 2,771 candidates got regis-teredfor the test at the Lahore and Multan centres, including 106 foreign aspirants.

KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, along with Controller Examination and Mayo Hospital CEO Prof Haroon Hamid visited the examination halls at the Punjab University examination centre.

Prof Hamid remained present at the Lahore centre and closely supervised the test at Multan centre, along with Nishtar Medical University (NMU) VC Prof Mehnaz Khakwani principal Nishtar Medical College Principal Prof Rashid Qamar.

The controller has been supervising the whole process of the admission test right from paper setting,enrollment and conduct, and will also monitor the result compilation.

The JCAT was jointly conducted by the staff of the KEMU and NMU examination departments under the supervision of health secretary, VCs of the KEMU and the NMU, besides KEMU controller examinations and NMC principal.

During the test, special facilities were provided to the differentlyabled and sick candidates by the Rescue 1122 staff and the medical team of Mayo Hospital, Lahore.

The VC appreciated the examination department for successfully conducting the test by making proper arrangements.

The test results will be announced within 72 hours and displayed on the KEMU official website.
