PESHAWAR: Literati and scholars at an event here on Sunday praised progressive Pashto poet Hameedur Rahman Nadaan as a true voice of community as he versified socio-economic plights of people around him.
They said that inspired by progressive poetry of contemporary bards Ajmal Khattak, Ghani Khan, Saleem Raz and Rahmat Shah Sail, Mr Nadaan utilised his inborn creative talent for giving vent to his emotions, reflecting stark realities being faced by downtrodden.
Local poets and writers attended the event in a large number and shed light on contribution of the poet to Pashto literature and his people at large. They said that Hameedur Rahman Nadaan`s poems were reflective of hislofty vision andcreative strength.
They said that few poets survived unless they contributed to society through their talent. Khalid Khan Khalil and Sajid Khan Khalil moderated the event. A few young poets recited selected poems from the poetry collections of Mr Nadaan.
His first poetry collection titled `Marawar Sparlai`, second collection `Doorraidaily Panrray` and his third volume of poems `Balay Deway` came out in 2000, 2005 and 2018, respectively. All the three collections received a warm welcome by literary circles due to his unique way of expression.
Mr Nadaan grew up among stalwarts of progressive Pashto poets and writers, who taught him to highlight problems and issues of his people as voicing their woes would help him to build a highway to fame and name. He adopted unemotional way of expression and soon carved out a niche for himself in literary circles. He read through classic and modern Pashto literature and also learnt a lot from the experiences and observation of senior progressive writers.
Saleem Raz, late progressive writer, while commenting on Mr Nadaan`s literary works stated: `Hameedur Rahman Nadaan`s poetry is a true mirror up to his contemporary age as his style is a pictorial representation of poor masses and his perspective shed light on the true image, what the people really undergo.
Mr Nadaan was instrumentalin organising World Pashto Conferences in the provincial capital way back in 2000 and since then he has been actively participating in literary activities to carry on the legacy of his progressive thoughts.
