MARDAN: A man was killed when a gas cylinder exploded at a CNG filling station here on Tuesday, local people and police officials said.

They said that the victim identified as Shahab was a salesman at the CNG pump located on the Mardan-Swabi road. The blast occurred in the cylinders` room of the filling station.

They said that the slain person was checking some fault in one of the cylinders when it exploded. The blast also severely damaged the filling station owned by Mohammad Israr and Hafiz Anwar Ali.

The people and the police said that no one was hurt in the explosion.

Officials at Par Hoti police station visited the spot and began further investigation after registering a case into the incident.
