Industrialists get workers to protest for them

F A I S A L A B A D : Industrialists on Wednesday brought their workers on road for a protest demonstration against the Federal Bureau of Revenue for issuing sales tax notices to the industry.
A majority of the workers didn`t know as to why they were staging a demonstration against the government.
Excepttraders ofthe yarn market, most of the Clock Tower bazaars and markets did not close their shops on Wednesday.
Traders of the yarn market observed a strike to express their solidarity with the industrialists, most of them attached with the textile sector.
Ahmed, a worl(er at a processing unit, was chanting slogans against the government and he also set tyres ablaze at District Council Chowk.
Ahmed had no knowledge of the issue taken up by the industrialists to stage protest against the FBR.
Talking to Dawn, he said: `My employer had asked me to take part in the protest actively to make him happy.
Asked if he knew anything about the notices issued by the FBR, he said he had no knowledge of such notices, however, `I will chant slogans against the rulers that will make my boss happy.
The protesters were riding vehicles being used by the factory owners for transportation of daily items and other products. Carrying banners, the workers chanted slogans against the rulers and the FBR officials at the District Council Chowk.
Addressing the protesters, Council of Loom Owners Chairman, Waheed Khaliq, said the FBR approach towards industrialists was tantamount to disrupting the industrial cycle.
He said instead of extending relief to the industry, the FBR officials had been harassing the industrialists by sending notices and exposing them to the discretion of inspectors.
