KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has directed the officials concerned to prepare a project to improve the city graveyards and expedite the counting of graves in the KMC-run cemeteries.
He said this during a visit to graveyards toinspect the arrangements for Shab-iBarat on Friday. Senior director of the municipal services department Masood Alam informed the administrator about the arrangements made for Shab-i-Barat in Karachi.
He said the people would not face any difficulty while visiting the graveyards.
Stand-by generators had been arranged to avoid loadshedding and one information camp was set up in eachcemetery fr necessary guidance to the visitors.
The administrator said that drinking water should be provided in the graveyards.
He directed the city wardens to guide visitors and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
He said a close coordination should be ensured with the district administration and police.
He said whatever resources the KMC had were being utilised honestly for providing facilities to the people of Karachi.
The district municipal corporations and non-governmental organisations were also doing a commendable job and the public service work was carried out with the joint efforts of these organisations, he added.-PPI
