IS has no presence in Balochistan: Bugti

QUETTA: The militant Islamic State group (IS) has no presence in Balochistan, said Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti on Tuesday, adding that the military`s operation against militants is in full swing in the province.

Speaking at a press conference at the Frontier Corps (FC) Madadgar Centre, Mr Bugti said that duringanintelligence-based operation, two militants of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) Niaz Muhammad alias Niazo and Jan Muhammad aka Laila were killed on Monday.

He added that the two men were involved in over 80 acts of terrorism, including the attack on the Quaidi-Azam Residency in Ziarat, target killings, 17 improvised explosive device attacks on security forces,15 kidnapping for ransom cases and attacks on national installations and communication services.

The home minister and Anwarul Haq Kakar, the Balochistan government`s spokesman, claimed that Operation Raddul Fassad was successfully under way in the province while members of banned outfits such as Lashkar-i-Jhangvi were being hunted down.

According to the home minister, three weeks ago security forces had killed two other militants, identified as Doctor and Niazo of the BLA, in the Margate area. They claimed that mobile phones recovered from the scene contained video evidences of attacks on security forces and information which led to presence of foreign elements.Staff Correspondent
