KARACHI: The Karachi division of the Pakistan Railways conducted a 50kilometrelong trolley inspection on the up and down tracks from Hyderabad to Pali Jani on Saturday.
The inspection team departedfromHyderabad on Saturday morning under the supervision ofdivisional superintendent (DS) of Karachi Arshad Salam Khattak for the task. The stations and level crossings en route the track were visited by the inspection team besides checking necessary record and preparedness of station and gang staff in case of emergency situations.
The DS inquired about the response of gang staff by presenting them with different trouble-related scenarios.
`Workers play a pivotal role in running the wheels of our trains, especially their services during the coronavirus pandemic period are exceptional,` commented the DS while expressing his satisfaction over the awareness and preparedness of the workers.
He added that the proactive role of all divisional officers in their departments could tremendously help in preventing any untoward incidents confronted by the Pakistan Railways. The DS gif ted Rs2,000 to a gangman for his expertise in copingwith emergency situations.
City Station gets info system Pakistan Railways Karachi division has installed an electronic information system at the reservation office of City Station.
The new system was installed to apprise passengers regarding the availability of seats or berths in different classes of all trains.
It was explained that this is a step towards public service as it will also help eliminate the chances of passengers having to wait in long queues to finally find out at their turn in front of the counter that all tickets have been sold out.
It will also help in reducing the probable crowd from the reservation counters.
Passengers will be able to first confirm the availability of seats on the date on which they would like to travel from the installed system before lining up in the queue.
