Father pushes two minors in front of moving cars

GUJRANWALA: Two minor siblings suffered serious injuries when their father pushed them in front of moving vehicles on GT Road, allegedly for demanding new clothes on Eid at Kotli Pir Ahmad Shah.
According to Dhulley police, eight-year-old Asif and his six-year-old sister Kubra were insisting on having new clothes and shoes on Eid but their father Nasir being jobless could not afford to buy the articles for them.
Apparently in a fit of dejection, Nasir pushed the two children on the road amid moving traffic.
As a result, Kubra`s leg got fractured, while her brother also suffered multiple injuries.
They were admitted to the district headquarters hospital where their condition was said to be stable.
Police were looking for Nasir.
Meanwhile, according to sources, some philanthropists gave Rs40,000 to the mother of the injured children, Nasim Bibi, for their treatment and Eid clothes.
SENTENCED: Local anti-terrorism court No 2 Judge Bushra Zaman handed down on Monday 21-year imprisonment each to two men charged with possession of a handgrenade.
The court also ordered confiscation of properties ofthe both accused.
According to the prosecution, Asgher Ali and Khizer Hayat wanted to kill their rivals by exploding a hand grenade at Kamoki on March 8, 2015.
However, police got wind of the plan and recovered a hand grenade from the convicts in a raid and arrested them.
In another case, ATC-II extended for two days the physical remand of PMLN`s Ghakkhr Town vice president Zahid Inait alias Tuma Butt in an extortion case.
LAID TO REST: A Punjab Regiment Lance Naik, Mushtaq Ahmad, who had died in Zarb-iAzab operation against terrorists was laid to rest with army salute and honours at his native Heryal village in Shakargarh on Monday.
On the occasion, wreaths were presented on behalf of president, the chairman joint chief of staff committee, chief of the army staff and corps commander concerned.
PROTEST: The relatives of a woman who died during treatment protested outside the DHQ Hospital, holding the doctors responsible for her death.
The protesters alleged that Amina Saba, mother of four children, died in the hospital due to negligence of doctors.
The chief minister has sought a report from the health secretary about the incident.
