LHC judges, staff told to donate for Edhi services

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has directed the court staffand judges of subordinate judiclary to make donations to honour the services of the late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi in real sense.
A circular issued by the LHC registrar says the chief justice and other judges are of the view that the high court must honour the late Edhi.
Therefore, the entire staff of the court may voluntarily and generously donate to the E dhi Foundation a minimum sum of Rs1,000 each.
The money may be donated on or before July 15 and be deposited with thetreasury ofñcer of the court and to be collected at the allied benches of the LHC by respective additional registrars and transmitted to the treasury office, the circular adds.
The circular reiterates that this is a voluntarily contribution in honour of the late Abdul Sattar Edhi and no compulsion.
Another circular issued regarding donation by the judicial ofñcers also specifies amount of donation.
It says that district and sessions judges can voluntarily contribute minimum Rs5,000 each, additional district and sessions judges Rs3,000 each, senior civil judges Rs2,000 each, civil judges Rs1,500 each and the staff Rs500 each.
