`Inconsistent appointments` NAB officials to appear before committee formed by SC

MULTAN: Two deputy directors of the National Accountability Bureau, Multan, along with eight others from different stations, will appear for personal hearing before a committee constituted on Supreme Court order in connection with the `inconsistent appointments` in the bureau on Friday (today). `With reference to their reply against show cause notices dated April 26, 2017 in pursuance of judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan dated March 31, 2017 in Suo Moto Case No 13 of 2016 and in accordance with section 8.02, 8.03 and chapter 11 of NAB`s Terms and Conditions of Service (TCS), the officers are advised to appear for personal hearingon July 14 at 10am at Committee Room, Establishment Division, Cabinet Secretariat, Islamabad, if they so desire, alongwith supporting documents, if any, to satisfy the committee,` the notice issued to them said.

The NAB Multan deputy directors who have been asked to appear before the committee on Friday are Khalid Mehmood and Muhammad Saleem Chandio. The others include Nasir Raza (Rawalpindi), Imran Ali Mangrio and Muhammad Nadeem Sajid (Karachi), Kashif Noor Shaikh (Sukkur), Muhammad Asif Munir (Lahore), Qamar Shahzad Phaphra (Peshawar) and Ejaz Bashir Ahmed and Waqarul Hassan (NAB headquar-ters, Islamabad).

Earlier, 42 deputy directors from various NAB offices appeared before the committee from July 10 to July 12, after receiving similar notices.

According to the report submitted in the Supreme Court the appointment of all three officers posted at Multan -Moshin Haroon, Saleem Chandio and Kahlid Mehmood -was illegal as the experience they possessed was irrelevant to their postings.

These three officers were earlier issued show-cause notices, along with 198 other NAB officers across the country and they submitted their replies. Now they have been asked to appear in person.-Shakeel Ahmad
