LAHORE: An antiterrorism court on Thursday denied the Sarwar Road police further physical remand of PTIwomen`swingleader Rubina Jamil in the Jinnah House attack case and sent her to jail on judicial remand.

The police produced the woman leader before the court on expiry of her previous remand.

The investigating officer requested the court to extend physical remand of the suspect for further two days as her custody was required to complete the investigation.

A counsel on behalf of the woman leader opposed the remand saying the police implicated her in the case on political grounds. He said the suspect was not present at the alleged occurrence. He said the police did not find any evidence against the suspect during the previous remand.

Judge Abher Gul Khan turned down the police request and sent the PTIleader to jail on judicial remand.

The judge also directed the investigat-ing officer to submit challan (investigation report) against the suspect within the stipulated time.

Sarwar Road police had registered a case of the attack on Jinnah House following the property`s vandalisation during the May 9 riots involving PTI leaders and workers.

Separately, the judge also rejected a request of the Shadman police to summon former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema from jail in a new case of attack on the police station.

A report was filed on behalf of the Kot Lakhpat jail superintendent revealing that the jail doctor had advised Cheema against travelling due to health conditions.

The judge dismissed the police request in the light of the report submitted by the jail superintendent. However, he observed that the police were free to file a fresh application after recovery of the suspect`s health.

Cheema`s wife Rabia Sultan is also on judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case.
