KARACHI: Mayor Wasim Alchtar said that the nation must not forget the sacrifices given by our ancestors for a free land and we all should do our best for strengthening our country and keeping it secure.

He said this on Monday while reviewing various programmes that have been chalked out to celebrate Independence Day by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation after returning from a visit to China.`Jashn-i-Azadi programmes under KMC have been finalised which includes an Independence Day programme to be held in the KMC head office, a flag-hoisting ceremony, and holding of a special Azadi mushaira in the KMC Sports Complex,` said the mayor. He said celebrations would begin with a flag-hoisting ceremony and wreath-laying ceremony at the Mazar-i-Quaid on behalf of the citizens of Karachi, and children would begiven national flags and hand bands on this occasion.

KMC Council meeting The general meeting of the council of the KMC will be held on Wednesday, Aug 15 at 2.30pm in the council hall of KMC Building at M.A. Jinnah Road.

Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar will preside over the meeting, according to a press release.-Staff Reporter
