LAHORE: A man allegedly tortured his American national wife to death in a private housing society in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police on Sunday.

The police arrested suspect Kazim Kamal Khan and lodged a murder case against him. The deceased was identified as Diana Christopher (45).

According to Factory Area Station House Officer Wajihuddin, police patrolling in the vicinity found the suspect behave in a suspicious manner at a local graveyard. Upon closer inspection, a woman`s body wrapped in a bed-sheet was found at the scene.

The suspect was digging a grave at the time.

Upon questioning, he said the deceased woman was his wife and that she had died suddenly. The police found torture marks on various parts of the wom-an`s body.

Forensic experts also noted numerous signs of violence inflicted on the body.

During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that he had married Christopher many years ago while residing in the US. However, following the 9/11 attacl(s, he was deported.

The suspect also revealed that he had a daughter with the deceased, who was residing in America. He had invited his wife to visit Pakistan due to his deteriorating health. However, upon her arrival, he noticed a strained relationship between them.

The body was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy, and the suspect has been taken into custody by the investigation police for further legal proceedings.-Staf f Reporter
