Film industry celebrates success of Carry On Jatta 3

LAHORE: Film exhibitors and distributors gathered at a local hotel in Gulberg on Sunday to celebrate the success of the foreign film, Carry On Jatta 3, which has earned Rs 250 million at the box office in Pakistan.
Distribution Club Chairman Sheikh Amjad Rasheed spoke on the occasion, acknowledging the efforts of former federal minister for information Maryam Aurangzeb towards the revival of the film industry.
He urged producers to create more films to establish a thriving Pakistani film industry, saying that while cinema owners used to produce films during the industry`s prime, today`s focus should be on generating more films within the country.
Mr Rasheed announced plans for a new film in October and another featuring comedian Naseem Vicky. He revealed joint ventures with artists from Pakistan and other countries, including England and Canada.
Film exhibitor Yahya urged Pakistani film producers toincrease film production, suggesting that films shouldn`t be released only during Eid.
He also highlighted Canada`s potential as a promising market for Pakistani films, particularly Punjabi ones. Emphasizing the importance of high-quality content, Yahya stated that films with excellent content can succeed at the box of fice, citing the example of the successful film `Maula Jatt,` which performed well both nationally and internationally.
He stressed the need for a serious approach to filmmaking while catering to the audience`s preference forlightergenreslike comedy.
Film director Syed Noor acknowledged the appeal of big multiplexes but noted that their high ticket prices make them less accessible for the masses.
He referenced the success of his film `Choorian,` which achieved a business of Rs400 million with a ticket price of only Rs35.
Mr Noor agreed that producing more films would contribute to the growth of the Pakistani film industry.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony.
