Fahad inspires Eaton into final

KARACHI: A superlative all-round effort from Fahad Anjum enabled Eaton CC qualify for the Orchid School Royal Premier League T20 final with a 14-run defeat of Qasmi Gymkhana here on Thursday.

After opting to bat first in the second semi-final at the RLCA Gulberg Ground, Eaton CC collected 144-7.

Fahad Anjum scored a quickfire 33 off 21 balls with a brace of sixes and two fours, while Fahad Iqbal younger brother of ex-Pakistan Test batsman Faisal Iqbal contributed a 38-ball 45 that included two fours and one six.

For Qasmi Gymkhana their skipper Abid Qasmi bowled tidily to take 2-28 in four overs.

Chasing 145, Qasmi Gymkhana were all out for 130 in 19.3 overs with only Rizwan Khan playing a noteworthy knock of 57 (42 balls, four fours and two sixes).

The two Fahads, who both bowl off-spinners, returned figures of 4-25 and 2-24 in their combined quota of eight overs.

Left-arm paceman Ubaid Umar and slow left-armer took two wickets apiece.

Former first-class cricketer Zaheer Ahmed Sheikh, who is also the Royal CC president, later awarded the man-ofthe-match prize to Fahad Anjum.
