NAROWAL: A mechanic and his helper were injured on Tuesday when a cylinder exploded during refilling gas in a freezer at a workshop in Sankhatra village.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, mechanic Shafiq (23) was refilling ga sin a freezer at his workshop in the village when suddenly the cylinder exploded with a bang. As a result, Shafiq and his 16-year-old helper, Asad Ali, were seriously injured.

Both injured persons were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital by a Rescue 1122 team.

According to the DHQ Hospital sources, the injured mechanic and his helper were referred to a hospital in L ahore given their critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said the explosion was so powerful it shattered the windowpanes of nearby buildings and panicked other shopkeepers and visitors in the village`s bazaar.
