Man slain, brother injured by rivals

LAHORE, Oct 13: A man was shot dead and his brother injured allegedly by their rivals over old enmity in the Shafiqabad police limits on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Barkat while his injured brother as Liaqat, residents of Ameen Park. Both brothers were standing on the doorstep of their house when two accused, identified as Jugnu and Qasim, opened fire on them.

Resultantly, both the victims received injuries and they were shifted to hospital where Barkat succumbed to wounds while the condition of Liaqat was critical.

The deceased was father of three and was a rickshaw driver by profession while his brother was on a visit from abroad. The accused fled from the scene after the incident.

Police reached the scene, collected evidence and shifted the body to morgue for autopsy. No case was registered until the filing of this report.

Police said that case would be registered against the suspects after application from the complainant.ARRESTED: Police took into custody 30 people from a Shadman hotel, Nawankot, Naulakha and Gawalmandi on Sunday.

CIA police took into custody 13 suspects from the hotel and 17 from Nawankot, Gawalmandi and Naulakha areas. Police did not reveal the charge or identity of the people.

Sabzazar and Mughalpura police arrested 37 gamblers on Sunday and seized stake money from them.
